House of Blues haz fun

I still remember when the first House of Blues opened on Thanksgiving Day, 1992 in Cambridge Massachusetts. They spent the day feeding the homeless before starting the music.
In an era full of punk rock, House of Blues was a refreshing breath of fresh air, bringing in classic performances by many blues greats. I was thrilled as the chain spread across the US. One of my favorite concert experiences was watching Jethro Tull play the Las Vegas House of Blues, standing only feet from the stage in a room packed with avid fans.
The clubs now also feature non-blues music, but you can find many great blues musicians performing within the walls. I've been very impressed with each House of Blues I've visited. They are very inviting, with great food, and seeing a show there is a treat far better than any other concert venue I've been in.
For a real dose of the blues, visit the House of Blues in Memphis, where the street the building is on is a non-stop party all night. You can hear great musicians playing on the street, never mind inside the doors!

The blues is neither an era in the chronological development of jazz, nor is it actually a particular style of playing or singing jazz. (Tanner 35) Some maintain (mostly musicologists) that the blues are defined by the use of blue notes (and on this point they also differ - some say that they are simply flatted thirds, fifths, and sevenths applied to a major scale [forming a pentatonic scale]; some maintain that they are microtones; and some believe that they are the third, or fifth, or seventh tones sounded simultaneously with the flatted third, or fifth, or seventh tones respectively [minor second intervals]).
